Our 2 month Fast Track Instructor programme will give you the opportunity to develop clear coaching and instructional skills with first hand group experience. This course will give you the insight and experience to start a career in the outdoor industry.

Why Arete Outdoor Centre? Based in Snowdonia, North Wales we are in the ideal position for all outdoor venues. If you want to pass your Mountain Leader you need to be in the mountains, we are certainly primely positioned for easy access to all of the 3000ft mountains of Snowdonia. Climbing skills, you can’t beat the range of rock and crags on offer in North Wales – slate, limestone, quartzite, rhyolite, dolerite all multi and single pitch. Boating is secondary to none from the coastline of Anglesey that offers sea journeys for all, to the well known white water rivers and of course the many lakes. With coasteering and gorge venues too, nowhere else in the country offers such a diverse range of venues within a short drive.

We are renowned for running high level courses year round to all levels and abilities. The instructors we use hold the highest qualifications and years of experience and knowledge to pass on. We are friendly and welcoming, and will make sure you are personally looked after. Venue and location is very important too, all of our activities are based off site using the countless exciting and interesting venues around Snowdonia.

All at a great realistic price. And it doesn’t end there, upon completion you have a source of information you can access as you continue to learn and develop in future years.

Course Structure

for Fast Track Instructor

Everyone who joins the course will come with differing amounts of experience and aspirations. As a result we will look to tailor the content for you, so we cover new ground and push you forward towards the qualifications you need. It is best to contact us to talk about your personal requirements and how we can make sure they are achieved.

It is possible to just focus on Land or Water activities if this is where you interest lays.

Land:  If you wish to focus on Mountain Leader or Rock Climbing Instructor qualifications we put people through the training, if this hasn’t been done beforehand. We coach new personal skills for everyone and increase their personal ability. For those that start the course with minimal, if any experience, in these activities then typically  they leave well on their way towards assessments, often just needing extra personal experience. Others who come in with lots of personal experience in walking or climbing  we will look to progress them towards taking an assessment during their time at Arete.

Water: The British Canoeing awards are modular and we can keep pushing you towards the next step as soon as you pickup the skills.  Personal paddling is covered through the star awards  Two star is attainable for those starting out with us, three star for those that come with some paddling experience. The entry level coaching award can be covered in 5 days, and the flat water leadership award over the duration of the course.

Gorge & Coasteering: We can combine the water and land skills you will learn and apply them to the gorge or coastal environments. Time with groups and getting to know key venues in North Wales with develop your understanding and competency in these activities.

From the fast track course you will benefit from:

  • Experienced and passionate instructors
  • Your own personal mentor, to discuss and evaluate your needs
  • National Governing Body qualifications
  • Specific coaching to fast track you towards assessments.
  • Experience with real groups and observing instructors in action.
