Mountain Walking
All the mountains around Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park, big and small, offer inspiring days out. It is a great chance to explore the mountain environment away from everyday life. We offer simple walks over rolling hills to steeper roped scrambles up the iconic rocky mountains of North Wales.
With the combination of physical exertion and inspiring views, there is always an immense team satisfaction of gaining the mountain top.
You can't beat the mountain views, stretching from the Irish Sea to inner Snowdonia.
Mountain Walking
We are fortunate to have hills and mountains of all sizes in North Wales. Our qualified instructors involve all individual group members during the planning stage. This allows the group to make the day their own, whilst also ensuring it is achievable. On the hill, group members often have the opportunity to lead the way and all are encouraged to look after fellow team members.
To give the group a greater sense of adventure, we often head away from the regular paths for a true mountaineering experience.
Scrambling
Scrambling can be classified as an activity somewhere between rock climbing and mountain walking. You will require the use of your hands on the rocky buttresses for upward progress.
There are plenty of classic grade 1 scrambles that are used around Eryri (Snowdonia), these being scrambles that can often be safely managed without ropes. Mountains like Tryfan are well known scrambling venues with many iconic lines. Groups often enjoy the extra excitement and enjoyment gained from scrambling.
Mountain Navigation
Mountain navigation can be an extra element for the group to take responsibility for. This can be as a brief introduction to a map and spotting features along the journey, or as a more in depth look at route planning and the use of a map and compass as part of a navigation course. We also run Mountain Leader training, assessment and refresher courses.
This environment lends itself to the hill and mountain aspects of the GCSE and A-Level PE syllabi and provides extensive options for BTEC Public Service expeditions.
