Explore the stunning and varied coastline of Anglesey and North Wales by sea kayak. We have sit on tops , general purpose kayaks and sea kayaks that can be used on the coastal venues.
Sit on top sea kayaks are great for beginners to jump on and immediately start exploring the coastline. There are many sheltered coastal areas around Anglesey that are accessed from beautiful beaches. The group can enjoy kayaking and learn new skills, within a sepectacular yet controlled environment.
Initially we teach the group new kayaking strokes so that they can easily control and maneuver their boats. This leads to playing games, which could be wet or dry, and journeying. Along the journeys we can discuss the marine ecology and coastal geology.
If you wish to explore further along the coastline then we have specialist sea kayaks. These boats are faster through the water and also can handle bigger seas.
If you are new to kayaking, we will coach a range of paddling skills first. For the more experienced we can look at handling the boats in tidal races or bigger seas. It is possible to explore some of the offshore islands around Anglesey, caves and headlands. They are also great for expeditions and are often used on DofE.
On a calm day canoes can be used to journey along the coast. We have the option of rafting the boats together too, enabling a stable platform. This allows a mixture of ages and abilities to still experience the fascinating sea environment around North Wales and be actively involved.
Launch points are often from one of the beautiful beaches. The journeys can then take the group to explore the sea cliffs and caves, hidden beaches or if you are lucky see the seals.
All parts of Anglesey and the Llyn Peninsular provide great sea kayaking venues with beginner and expert venues. We are fortunate that the coastline faces all directions giving us options for all wind directions.
Porth Dafarch to Trearddur bay is a great beginner area that is easily accessed and has interest around every corner.
Penrhynmawr – the largest of the tidal races for big waves and can be part of the spectacular journey around the stacks.
Puffin Island almost guarantees seeing a seal! A short paddle from the mainland it has interesting cliffs as well as wildlife.
