Surfing

surfing

Surfing can take place year round, with the more consistent waves being found during the Autumn and Winter. We have either bodyboards, stand up paddle boards or kayaks available, to use in the surf.  The session can be a half or full day. Often it is combined with other activities based on the coast for a full and varied day out. The content and venue would be tailored so that appropriate sized waves are found for all.

A school student on an outdoor adventure course smiles as he walks his body board back out to sea.

Everyone loves the Beach! A memorable shared experience for the group.

"Although I was worried at first, the other group members encouraged me into the water. I was soon riding really big waves back into the beach and learning about the power of the sea."
Ben Green

Kayak Surfing

Whether in White Water Kayaks or Sit-on-Tops, we can provide a fun surfing session for you. Kayaks have the advantage that they can easily generate speed, which means catching waves can be easy.

On the beach we will look at reading the waves and ideal launch points. Then, throughout the session, we can develop your boat handling and balance, so you stay upright and direct the boat along the wave.

We have double and single kayaks for the maximum amount of fun!

Bodyboarding

Have fun splashing about in the waves, bodyboarding is a good way to be introduced to surfing. Through its simplicity it can be picked up quickly.

Bodyboarding sessions can begin with messing around in the swash and progress to more complex catching of green waves.

Surfing is a great activity for all abilities, allowing everyone to pick their own depths and wave size.

The beaches on Anglesey provide the most convenient surf breaks close to the centre. The West coast of the island normally faces the incoming swell with Rhosneigr beaches being the most open to provide the biggest waves.  Areas like Cable Bay and Porth Dafarch can offer shelter at mid to high tides.
